Hong Kong is easily one of the most surprising cities I’ve ever been to. Built on top of rolling hills overlooking the bay, the skyline is immense, buoyed by the natural and beautiful hill formations.

Hong Kong is easily one of the most surprising cities I’ve ever been to. Built on top of rolling hills overlooking the bay, the skyline is immense, buoyed by the natural and beautiful hill formations.
After taking Hong Kong’s Peak Tram high up onto the mountainside, the views overlooking the massive city are incredible and well worth being hauled up by the old train.

Remembering a whirlwind bus tour through Hong Kong
After a 14 hour plane ride from Vancouver, my family and I touched down in Hong Kong. We got our first glimpses of China when we wheeled our bag into the main terminal of the steel and glass behemoth International Airport.
With a six hour layover ahead of us and transit passes in hand, we decided to jump on a whirlwind bus tour of the city. Avid travelers already know that leaving the airport is usually a gamble, but through organization, one can see the quickly see major city sights.
After asking questions, we hopped aboard a double decker bus that was to take us to the Peak Tram. For those of you who have never had the opportunity to visit Hong Kong, an old train called the Peak Tram hauls people up quite a steep mountain to overlook the stunning city.
Not long after jumping aboard another wild bus ride through the streets of old Hong Kong, we saw millions of people jumbling up an intersection. I have never seen so many people in one place in my life.
Back at the airport, we polished off some food court noodles from Noodle King and readied ourselves for a short plane trip into Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
